Announcements and Reminders:
Don't forget to contribute to the Penny Wars.
If your grade is looking bad, you may have not handed in your Venn Diagram or your Map. You can also complete or make-up the composition book check for quotes and words from The Graveyard Book. |
Targets for Today:
I can read for enjoyment, and participate in discussions about literature.
I can share in a small group the things in our reading that surprise or interest me, and I can make predictions based on what has already happened in a story.
|
Today’s Agenda:
1. Read your own book.
Storyteller's Daughter or Legend
2. Small groups -- decide how much more you will read today -- in about 20 minutes.
Read.
4. Assignment for your group book:
Look over the section you read, and write
what surprised or interested you.
what you think will happen because of what you have already read.
Also, keep adding to your character chart.
5. Group discussion in your small assigned groups.
6. As a small group, decide again how far you will read by ten minutes before the end of class.
You may renegotiate this as you see how your group is doing.
As you read individually, continue to look for things that interest you
or that would lead you to make predictions.
Also, keep adding to your character chart.
When you have extra time, you may read your own book, and, if you need to, complete work you have not yet completed for The Graveyard Book: Venn Diagram? Map? composition book?
