Today’s Agenda:
1. Individual Reading --
If you are not up with the class to page 114 in The Storyteller's Daughter, catch up during your individual reading time.
If you are caught up, read your choice of books. Write a brief response in your composition book (Reader Response) Appointment clock -- We have already used 1:00 and 3:00 and today -- 5:00. By the way, as I read and stumble over the names, I am shamed when I listen to this! 2. More about Theme: Watch for any of these themes as we read
The Storyteller's Daughter:
Are you spotting any others?
The ability to see the truth is not a function of the eyes but of the heart. The Little Prince: "Ce qui est essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." "That which is essential is invisible to the eyes." "You can't judge a book by its cover."
(One of our students pointed out that especially the boys in our class judged this book by its cover. Hopefully it it is proving better than they expected!)
Another possible theme:
Treachery can hide where it is least
expected, even in the heart of one
you love and trust the most. (pp. 38, 40)
Page 86 "A deed well done should always be rewarded.
Page 87 "Often we do not see and appreciate what we already have."
"The bigger they are, the harder they fall." ?
"Pride cometh before the fall." or "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18 ?
3. Reading from The Storyteller's Daughter Last time we read up to page 114.
Today we will read . . . to page 137.
